Rippling's headcount figures come from different dates and don't agree. YC's page lists a team of 2,500, TechCrunch reported more than 4,000 employees in May 2025, and a September 2026 Rippling release says nearly 2,500 people work for Rippling in India alone. Treat each as a figure from its date.
What Rippling does
Rippling sells software that lets a business keep employee records, payroll, devices, apps and spending in one system, so a change made once (a new hire, a promotion, a departure) carries through to the rest. YC's page describes it as one place to run HR, IT and finance, with the ability to hire in any country and set up a new employee's payroll, corporate card, computer, benefits and third-party apps in minutes. The Rippling homepage groups its products like this:
- HR. HR records, benefits, recruiting, performance and learning management.
- Payroll. Payroll for employees and contractors worldwide.
- IT. Identity, access and device management, with security and compliance policies.
- Finance. Corporate cards, expenses, procurement, bill pay and travel.
- Custom apps and AI. No-code workflows and AI tools across HR, payroll, IT and finance.
Y Combinator itself became a Rippling customer in 2025, TechCrunch reported. In 2026 Rippling added business banking with same-day payroll and a business intelligence product called Data Cloud (TechCrunch), then AI Spend Console, which tracks what a company spends on AI by employee, team and role (TechCrunch).
Who runs Rippling
Parker Conrad is Rippling's cofounder and CEO, as the Rippling about page lists him in October 2026. Conrad previously cofounded Zenefits, an HR company, in 2013 and left it in 2016 after compliance problems there forced his resignation, then started Rippling within months, TechCrunch reported in 2021. The other leaders on Rippling's about page:
Name | Role |
|---|---|
Parker Conrad | Cofounder and CEO |
Matt MacInnis | President and chief product officer |
Matt Plank | Chief revenue officer |
Albert Strasheim | Chief technology officer |
Adam Swiecicki | Chief financial officer |
Stephanie Ho | SVP, customer experience |
Sunil Raman | SVP, business and product operations |
Bridget Abraham | Chief compliance officer |
Martin White | General counsel |
Adrian Ludwig, formerly chief information security officer at Atlassian, joined as chief security officer in March 2026 (Rippling announcement). Sonia Parandekar is senior vice president of engineering and leads Rippling's India site (Rippling release). YC still lists Prasanna S as founder and CTO, while Rippling's own about page names Albert Strasheim as CTO and doesn't list a second founder.

Rippling's lawsuits with Deel and Runlayer
Rippling is suing its rival Deel over alleged corporate spying, a case still open in October 2026, and it settled a shorter dispute with the startup Runlayer in August 2026. The main events, as reported:
- March 17, 2025: Rippling sued Deel in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, alleging racketeering under the RICO Act and trade secret misappropriation through a Rippling employee it says passed information to Deel. Deel said: "We deny all legal wrongdoing and look forward to asserting our counterclaims" (CNBC via NBC New York).
- January 2026: The Wall Street Journal reported a U.S. Department of Justice criminal investigation into the allegations against Deel. Deel told TechCrunch it was "not aware of any investigation"; Rippling declined to comment (TechCrunch).
- February 2026: Judge Charles Breyer allowed Rippling's racketeering and trade secret claims to proceed (The Next Web).
- September 2026: Judge Breyer refused Deel's request to bar the former employee's testimony, sent Deel's main counterclaims to arbitration and let some of Deel's false advertising claims against Rippling go forward. Deel's counterclaims allege Rippling pressured the employee into a false account, which Rippling denies (The Next Web).
- Separately, July to August 2026: Runlayer, a startup selling a Model Context Protocol (MCP) gateway, which controls how AI tools connect to company systems, sued Rippling for trade secret misappropriation on July 28 after a long product trial; Rippling denied misusing its technology (TechCrunch). Rippling countersued over three patents on August 10 (TechCrunch), and both suits were dismissed with prejudice that month, with no payment either way (Bloomberg Law).
No court had ruled on the merits of Rippling's claims against Deel, or Deel's against Rippling, as of October 2026.
