Start on Free. Every plan is the same Merlin; what changes is how many credits you get each month. Pro has 25,000 for everyday use, Ultra has 85,000 for longer research and bigger projects, and Max has 250,000 if you lean on Merlin all day.
Credits pay for the work Merlin does: the models it runs and the paid tools it uses. A quick answer costs little and a long browser errand costs more, so one message doesn't always use the same amount. You can see your balance and what used it in Settings, under Usage.
Three things need a paid plan: Calendar Sync, an email address for Merlin, and meeting transcripts. On Free you can save two routines of your own, and Merlin's background check-ins run less often. Recording meetings, the browser, the companion, projects and the built-in routines are all there.
No. Your credits refresh every month, and what you didn't use doesn't carry over. Your renewal date is in Settings, under Usage.
New work that costs credits won't start until your credits refresh or you move up a plan. Nothing you've made is lost.
Paying yearly takes 20% off. You get the same credits every month as on the monthly plan, and they still refresh monthly.
