What Meesho does
Meesho runs an online marketplace where sellers, many of them small businesses, list products for buyers across India. YC's page says Meesho gives sellers access to customers, logistics, payments and support across more than 30 categories, with an aim of helping 100 million small businesses sell online (YC).
Meesho began as a social commerce app. In 2021 TechCrunch described it as a marketplace that connected sellers with customers on WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram, with a network of more than 13 million entrepreneurs, most of them women (TechCrunch, April 2021). When Meesho listed in December 2025, its investor Prosus said it had more than 700,000 annual transacting sellers and small businesses, more than 234 million annual transacting users, and 2.3 billion orders in the twelve months to September 30, 2025 (Prosus).
Meesho also runs its own logistics arm, Valmo. Valmo scaled up quickly in late 2025 after consolidation in India's third-party logistics industry, which Meesho said lowered its contribution margin in the quarter to December 2025 (Outlook Business). In June 2026 Meesho agreed to buy Kirana Club, a business-to-business marketplace that connects kirana (neighborhood grocery) stores and small retailers with consumer brands and distributors, mainly outside India's largest cities (Inc42).
