Clipboard Health: What It Does, Who Runs It, Funding and News
Clipboard, also known as Clipboard Health, runs an app-based marketplace where nursing homes, hospitals, home health agencies and dental offices post open shifts and healthcare professionals such as nursing assistants and nurses book them. Wei Deng founded it in 2016, and it joined Y Combinator's Winter 2017 batch. YC lists it in San Francisco; the company works remote first.
Clipboard is a staffing marketplace for healthcare: workplaces post the shifts they need covered, and qualified professionals pick them up in the Clipboard app (Clipboard's homepage). The company trades as Clipboard and signs its site "Twomagnets LLC d/b/a Clipboard Health", and its old address, clipboardhealth.com, now redirects to clipboard.com. Y Combinator's company page lists it in the Winter 2017 batch with the tagline "Every shift, Covered."
This page covers Clipboard's key facts, how the marketplace works, who leads it, the funding it has announced and its news from 2026.

What Clipboard does
Clipboard connects healthcare workplaces that are short of staff with professionals who want to choose their own shifts. A workplace picks the role, date and time it needs, Clipboard shares the shift with workers who hold the right qualifications, and Clipboard handles the scheduling, documents and payment (Clipboard solutions page). TechCrunch described the same model in April 2022: facilities post shifts, and nurses and other workers book them in the mobile app, including at facilities they haven't worked at before (TechCrunch).
- Workplaces: long-term care, home health and hospice, hospitals, dental, infusion nursing and travel (Clipboard's homepage). YC calls Clipboard a leader in long-term care staffing that is expanding into home health and hospitals (YC).
- Workers: certified nursing assistants (CNAs), licensed vocational nurses (LVNs), registered nurses (RNs), therapists and certified home health aides, plus dental assistants and hygienists (Clipboard for workers).
- How workers are engaged: per diem workers on Clipboard are 1099 independent contractors (self-employed for US tax purposes), not employees, and a booked shift needs no further approval (Clipboard for workers).
- How workers are paid: an InstantPay option pays within minutes for a small fee, and a free option pays within a few days (Clipboard for workers).
- Tools for workplaces: credential checks for each assigned worker, live arrival times, automatic replacements when a worker cancels, and invitations back for preferred workers (Clipboard solutions page).
Scale, as Clipboard states it (October 2026): more than 6,500 workplaces and 1 million healthcare professionals across the U.S. (homepage), and more than 9 million shifts covered (Careers page). The careers page also says Clipboard has been profitable since 2022. For comparison, TechCrunch reported more than 1,000 facilities and tens of thousands of professionals in over 30 U.S. cities in April 2022 (TechCrunch).
Who runs Clipboard
Wei Deng founded Clipboard in 2016 and is its co-CEO, according to the company's About page and its September 2026 press release. In April 2022 TechCrunch called her the CEO and reported that she had worked at the law firm Davis Polk & Wardwell and the bank Moelis & Company, then led product management and business operations at Sendwave (TechCrunch). Clipboard says she earned a CNA certification to understand the work of the people who use the app (About page).
Clipboard's careers page introduces its leaders by first name only: Bo as co-CEO, Warren as chief financial and business officer, and Trey as chief product officer. The company hasn't published a dated announcement of when the co-CEO arrangement began.
Clipboard funding history
Clipboard disclosed two rounds together in April 2022: $80 million in total, from a $50 million Series B in 2021 and a $30 million Series C in 2022, at a post-money valuation of $1.3 billion (TechCrunch). The same article put the total raised at $90 million. No later round has been announced; Clipboard's careers page still cites the $1.3 billion valuation in October 2026.
Round | When | Money raised | Investors named |
|---|---|---|---|
Y Combinator | Winter 2017 | Not stated | Y Combinator (YC) |

TechCrunch also named Y Combinator, Caffeinated Capital, Initialized Capital and SciFi VC as investors, and said the money would go to hiring in engineering, sales and marketing (TechCrunch). The article gave no terms for any round before the Series B.
Clipboard news in 2026

Clipboard's newsroom lists only these September 2026 items, and none of them concerns funding, an acquisition or a leadership change.
